CODE OF CONDUCT


Welcome to the EU PVSEC 2024!

We are committed to providing a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful environment for all participants. To ensure a positive experience, we ask all participants, speakers, chairpersons, exhibitors, sponsors, and volunteers to adhere to the following Code of Conduct throughout the event.

Standards of Conduct

  • Respect and Courtesy

    Treat all participants, staff, and speakers with respect and courtesy. Engage in collaborative and respectful discussions.

  • Inclusivity

    Foster an inclusive environment for everyone. Be considerate and respectful of differing perspectives and experiences.

  • Professional Conduct

    Maintain professional behaviour in all interactions, whether in sessions, workshops, networking events, or social activities.

  • Compliance

    Follow the rules and policies of the venue and the event, as well as all applicable laws and regulations.

  • Kindness

    Be kind to others. A friendly and supportive attitude fosters a positive environment.

  • Welcoming Language

    Use welcoming and inclusive language. Ensure your communication is considerate and accessible to everyone.

  • Respect for Differing Viewpoints

    Appreciate and learn from the diversity of the community.

  • Acceptance of Criticism

    Gracefully accept constructive criticism. Use feedback as an opportunity for growth and improvement.

  • Community Focus

    Focus on what is best for the community. Make decisions that benefit the collective group.

  • Empathy

    Show empathy towards other community members. Understand and share the feelings of others to build a supportive network.

  • Privacy and Recording

    Respect the privacy of speakers and their work by refraining from recording any sessions.

Unacceptable Behaviour

(exemplary, but not limited to)
  • Harassment and Discrimination

    Harassment, discrimination, or exclusion of any kind will not be tolerated. This includes offensive verbal comments, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.

  • Verbal Comments

    Comments that reinforce social structures of domination related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, religion, etc., are unacceptable.

  • Sexual Language and Imagery

    The use of sexual language and imagery in any conference venue, including talks, is prohibited.

  • Violent Threats or Language

    Any form of violent threats or language directed against another person is strictly forbidden.

  • Insults or Put Downs

    Insults or put downs are not acceptable.

  • Offensive Jokes

    Sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, or exclusionary jokes are prohibited.

  • Unwelcome Physical Contact

    Any form of unwelcome physical contact is not allowed.

  • Disruptive Behaviour

    Disruption of presentations, exhibits, or other aspects of the event is prohibited.

  • Inappropriate Content

    Sharing inappropriate or offensive material in any form is not allowed.

  • Retaliation

    Retaliation against individuals for reporting unacceptable behaviour or for participating in an investigation of such behaviour is prohibited.

  • Inappropriate Conduct

    Any other conduct that is inappropriate for a professional audience, including people of many different backgrounds, will not be tolerated.

Reporting

Consequences of Unacceptable Behaviour

Participants who are asked to stop unacceptable behaviour are expected to comply immediately. In the event of unacceptable behaviour, the organisers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender, exclusion from the event without refund, and exclusion from future EU PVSEC events.
