The European Union’s leadership in PV research and innovation risks being overtaken by other regions in the world. With 41.4 GW installed in the EU in 2022, this marks the best solar year in EU history so far, 47% higher than the 28.1 GW installed in 2021, when a decade old record was broken. The next 4 years until 2026 will see further strong growth, reaching close to 100 GW in 2026. In parallel, the currently under discussion Net-Zero Industry Act proposal, addresses innovation with the creation of regulatory sandboxes.
The EU PVSEC, as the largest international Conference for Photovoltaic research technologies and applications and at the same time a PV Industry Exhibition, is the relevant venue for such discussion.
