In just a few days, the global PV community will gather at WTC World Trade Center in Rotterdam for the 43rd European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition. From 14 to 18 September, five days packed with scientific sessions, industry insights, and networking await you.

|  Monday's Opening: Prize, Welcome & KeynoteEU PVSEC 2026 officially kicks off on Monday, 14 September, 08:30 – 12:15, with a packed Opening Programme that sets the tone for the week ahead.
The morning begins with the Plenary Session “ PV in the Energy System,” chaired by Eszter Voroshazi (CEA/INES) and Grazia Barchi (Eurac Research), featuring talks on grid opportunities, AI in PV, and smart energy systems.
At 09:30, all eyes turn to the Becquerel Prize Ceremony, honouring outstanding merits in photovoltaics. This year's European Becquerel Prize goes to Delfina Muñoz (CEA/INES), with the laudation delivered by Veronica Bermúdez Benito (Berbetin) and Christian Thiel representing the European Commission Joint Research Centre.
Following a short break, General Chair Wilfried van Sark (Utrecht University) and Conference Director Jon de Gregorio (WIP Renewable Energies) will deliver the Welcome Message, followed by Opening Addresses from Maaike van Asten (City of Rotterdam) and Walburga Hemetsberger (SolarPower Europe).
The morning closes with a keynote by Peter Palensky (TU Delft) on “Congestion and other Limits in the Electricity System,” leading into the moderated panel discussion “Grid Congestion Management: Enabling the Next Phase of Solar PV Growth – The Dutch Perspective,” bringing together voices from TenneT, Stedin, RVO, and Holland Solar. With the Netherlands holding one of the highest levels of installed PV capacity per capita worldwide, the discussion offers valuable lessons as other markets move towards similarly high shares of solar.

Silicon materials and cells remain the backbone of the PV industry, with efficiencies continuing to edge closer to their theoretical limits. Thin-film technologies and new device concepts push beyond those limits, with perovskites and tandem structures drawing particular attention. At module level, reliability and performance take centre stage, while PV systems are explored in all their diversity – from building integration and agri-PV to space applications and green hydrogen production. And with PV now covering over 10% of global electricity demand, sessions on the energy transition dig into flexibility, grid integration, economics, recycling, and circularity.
The four plenary sessions frame the week's key themes: “ PV in the Energy System” opens the conference on Monday, followed on Wednesday by “ Thin-Film PV Technologies Towards Impact” and “ Silicon PV Design, Manufacturing and Circularity,” before the week closes on Friday with “ Reliable PV Everywhere.”
Complementing the scientific programme, close to 20 Parallel Events organised by partner institutions – alongside dedicated sessions in the Industry Summit – ensure a rich exchange between research, policy, and industry throughout the week.

A fitting home for the next chapter of the EU PVSEC.
