Tuesday’s Panel: Reliability and Bankability in PV
The first panel discussion on Tuesday, 23 September (13:30–15:00),
will cover one of the most pressing topics in today’s solar landscape:
the relationship between reliability and bankability of next-generation
PV modules.
As
high-efficiency technologies like TOPCon and HJT scale up, the lack of
technology-specific reliability tests and limitations of current
standards raise concerns about long-term performance. Moderated by
Alessandro Virtuani
(CSEM) and Ulrike Jahn (Fraunhofer CSP), this session brings together
voices from research, industry, insurance and finance, including Ronald Sastrawan (Green Tech Solution, Munich RE), Ralph Gottschalg (Fraunhofer CSP), Giorgio Bardizza (TÜV)
and Ruben Martínez (Banco Sabadell), joined by other key voices from
across the sector, to explore the urgent need for harmonised
qualification protocols.
The
discussion will highlight how stronger reliability frameworks can
reduce investment risk, boost investor confidence, and support the
sustainable deployment of cutting-edge PV solutions.

| Wednesday’s Panel: Challenges and Opportunities of PV up to 2030On Wednesday, 24 September, from 13:30 to 15:00,
the second panel discussion will take a forward-looking view on the
challenges and opportunities facing PV as we move toward 2030.
This session will examine not only emerging technologies but also
broader societal and systemic aspects of the energy transition. Topics
include the role of artificial intelligence in optimising PV system
performance, the critical importance of energy storage for grid
stability and flexibility, and the need to modernise infrastructure and
protocols to support higher levels of solar integration. Social benefit
sharing, cybersecurity, and the accelerating urgency of climate action
will also be on the agenda.
Moderated by Marion Perrin (Energy Pool) and the EU PVSEC General Chair
Carlos Del Cañizo (UPM), the panel will feature contributions from
Christian Breyer (LUT University), David Moser (Becquerel Institute),
Pierre-Jean Alet (CSEM), Raffaele Rossi (SolarPower Europe), John
McKiernan (ESB) and Grazia Barchi (EURAC).

| Thursday’s Panel: Scalability and Manufacturability Prospects in Europe for New TechnologiesThe final panel discussion on Thursday, 25 September (13:30–15:00), will zoom in on the future of PV manufacturing in Europe and the global positioning of emerging technologies.
Bringing together experts from industry, research analitycs, policy, and
research, this session will explore how scalable and industrially
viable the next generation of PV solutions truly are, and what it will
take for Europe to compete. Should Europe focus on utility-scale
production or carve out leadership in specialised, high-value segments?
Is the aim to serve domestic markets, or go global? These questions and
more will guide the discussion, along with reflections on industrial
resilience, the role of breakthrough technologies like perovskites, and
lessons from past ventures such as CIGS. Political and economic hurdles,
such as production costs, industrial policy, and long-term strategy,
will also be addressed.
Moderated by Kaining Ding (Forschungszentrum Jülich) and Delfina Muñoz (CEA),
the panel features Molly Morgan (CRU), Christoph Podewils (ESMC),
Veronica Bermudez (Berbetin), Maria Getsiou (European Commission),
Marina Foti (3Sun) and Yuelong Huang (Phoenix Solar).
