| | | One Week to Go – Join Us in BilbaoWith just one week away, the EU PVSEC 2025 is ready to welcome the global PV community to Bilbao.
Don’t miss this final chance to register and take part in a week full of
science, innovation and exchange that will shape the future of solar
energy. | A Powerful Start: The EU PVSEC Opening SessionThe
EU PVSEC 2025 will begin on Monday, 22 September, with an opening
session that sets the tone for the entire week. Kicking off with the
scientific plenary “PV Everywhere”, the session will be followed by the
prestigious Becquerel Prize Award, honouring Walburga Hemetsberger
(SolarPower Europe) for her remarkable efforts in advancing Europe’s PV
industry.
A warm welcome will then be extended by General Chair Carlos del Cañizo
and Jon de Gregorio (WIP Renewable Energies), before official addresses
from representatives of the Basque and Spanish Government.
The session continues with a keynote speech on the 'Dual Face of Global Solar Growth',
which will open the stage for a panel discussion on 'Solar in Turbulent
Times: Global Dynamics and the Way Forward'. Here, perspectives from
Europe, China, India, North America, and Spain will meet in dialogue.
Different realities, different challenges, but one common goal: building
a resilient solar future together. | Programme Highlights of the WeekThroughout
the week, the conference programme will unfold across more than 1,100
scientific presentations, covering the full spectrum of PV research and
innovation.
Silicon materials and cells remain a central focus, with record-breaking
efficiencies edging ever closer to theoretical limits, consolidating
their role as the backbone of the PV industry. Thin-film technologies
and new device concepts promise to push beyond these limits, with
perovskites and tandem structures drawing particular attention. At the
module level, reliability and performance take centre stage, offering
insights into scaling, durability, and technical solutions for long-term
sustainability. Photovoltaic systems are explored in all their
diversity, from building integration to agri-PV, from space applications
to green hydrogen production. And with PV now covering over 10% of
global electricity demand, discussions on its role in the energy
transition delve into flexibility, grid integration, economics,
recycling, and circularity.
Complementing the scientific programme are 17 Parallel Events organised
by partner institutions and dedicated industry sessions in the Industry
Forum, ensuring a rich exchange between research, policy, and industry
throughout the week. | |
| Mark Your Calendars for the EU PVSEC 2026For
the first time in more than four decades, we are breaking tradition by
announcing the next host city before this year’s conference even begins.
By sharing the news early, we want to give our community the chance to
plan ahead, to shape future collaborations, and to make the most of the
networking opportunities in Bilbao.
After 2025, our journey continues in a forward-looking city at the heart of Europe…
Mark your calendars for 14–18 September 2026 and join us in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. | |
