The New Multi-TW Era

Dr. Robert Kenny

EU PVSEC Technical Programme Chair

European Commission -
Joint Research Centre
"As the energy sector accelerates and installed solar PV enters the multi–TW era, the PV research and innovation community is ready to be the key driver and deliver solutions and developments to the energy transition.

I am therefore pleased to announce the call for papers for the 41st European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference (EU PVSEC), which will take place in Vienna, 23-27 September 2024.

The programme is arranged in 5 topics as follows - Silicon Materials and Cells; Thin Films and New Concepts; Photovoltaic Modules and Balance of System Components; PV Systems Engineering, Integrated/Applied PV; PV in the Energy Transition. The technology topics highlight new developments in silicon cells, thin films, perovskites and tandems. The Module and Systems topics cover design, implementation, performance and operation - including the increasingly important role of digitalization and machine learning - as well as the multitude of applications in areas such as buildings (BIPV), integration with the transport infrastructure, agriculture (Agri-PV) and on water (Floating PV). The energy transition topic covers the wide range of multidisciplinary efforts required to ensure the rapid deployment of PV technologies on a massive and global scale as a key element of the ecological transition, including, technical aspects, economics, sustainability, and social challenges. As is clear from this extensive programme, the EU PVSEC offers ……"

The EU PVSEC stand as cornerstone in the global PV landscape, bringing together not only the European PV community but also scientists, experts and policymakers from around the world for over four decades.

Join us in celebrating the rich tradition of the European Photovoltaic Conference and the revival the PV industry. Be part of this momentum and shape the programme of the world’s largest PV solar energy conference.

Submit your abstract now and connect with PV experts worldwide. Seize the opportunity to learn about and contribute to the latest innovations in PV, while playing an important role in promoting PV research and deployment.

The Conference will be structured along the following five main topics:
  • Topic 1 Silicon Materials and Cells
  • Topic 2 Thin Films and New Concepts
  • Topic 3 Photovoltaic Modules and BoS Components
  • Topic 4 PV Systems Engineering, Integrated/Applied PV
  • Topic 5 PV in the Energy Transition

Scientific Journal Publication of Selected Papers

As every year, EU PVSEC offers its authors the opportunity to submit conference papers that may be published in peer-reviewed journals. This year we are particularly pleased to announce our co-operation with a further journal.

On top of the longstanding collaboration with Progress in Photovoltaics, we also offer the possibility to publish a selection of our submissions in Solar RRL, EPJ Photovoltaics, and the new partner journal Advanced Energy and Sustainability Research (AESR) exclusively for submissions in topic 5.

With these different options, the EU PVSEC intends to not only increase the number of high-quality peer reviewed papers coming out of the conference, but also expand the breadth of scope and offer a range of publication options, including high impact factor journals and Open Access possibilities in different modalities.

Take a look at the different publication partners.
