 Student Awards Finalists AnnouncedEach
year, the EU PVSEC Student Awards recognise outstanding research by
early-career professionals in the field of photovoltaics. The aim is to
encourage high-quality work and highlight emerging voices in the
research community.
This year’s finalists have now been selected by the Scientific
Committee, which brings together over 350 experts from academia and
industry worldwide. During the conference, their presentations will be
evaluated once more. The final winners will be announced at the Closing
Ceremony in Bilbao.
These students represent the next generation of PV research.
Make sure not to miss their presentations in Bilbao!
| PV Academy First Session: From Fundamentals to New Materials for PV CellsThe
PV Academy returns this year with expert-led presentations designed for
students, early career researchers, and anyone eager to deepen their
knowledge of photovoltaics.
The first session, From Fundamentals to New Materials for PV Cells,
offers a comprehensive tutorial tracing the journey from the physics of
sunlight to the latest material innovations in solar cell technologies.
Participants will explore the thermodynamic limits of solar power
conversion, understand how real-world materials shape efficiency through
absorption and carrier extraction, and gain insights into key
parameters such as open-circuit voltage and fill factor. The tutorial
also covers advanced characterisation techniques, like quantum
efficiency and photoluminescence, and what they reveal about carrier
transport, losses, and overall device quality.
The session wraps up with an overview of current manufacturing
approaches across crystalline silicon, III-V, CdTe, and perovskite
technologies, alongside a look at the role of material stability in
future grid applications. Join us for this in-depth introduction that
sets the stage for all upcoming Academy sessions.
Sounds interesting?
Join the PV Academy to gain a solid foundation in PV science and stay ahead of the solar innovation curve.
