Interactive workshop
This session will explore the socio-political aspects of integrated photovoltaics (PV) from different perspectives and disciplinary fields with the aim of elevating diverse topics relevant to social perspectives and acceptance of new technologies, such as energy justice, economics, policy, and landscape design. Session panelists will provide high-level overviews of the various integrated PV applications (agrivoltaics, aquavoltaics, building-integrated PV) with an emphasis on the socio-political aspects related to each application. To build on the value of social perspectives, session panelists and audience members will participate in a “back casting” exercise to develop a roadmap for more successful research and development of integrated PV. This interactive and interdisciplinary approach to identifying the policies, programs, events, partnerships, and technological developments needed to address implementation barriers will enable researchers and practitioners to improve the role of integrated PV in the energy transition.
